The woods on the bluff overlooking the Mississippi are not very pretty this time of the year with all of the dead leaves from last fall, but the green leaves are beginning to sprout on the trees with the recent warmth.
Once we arrived in Dubuque, Iowa, yesterday afternoon for our weekend retreat, we took a long hike in the woods and took another one this morning. So far, no deer sightings. The only woodland creature we’ve spotted have been birds, hawks, and squirrels.
Today, we’re heading over to Galena, Illinois, (and Kaye, Lily, and Annaka, we’ll work very hard to avoid the “Galena break-up curse” that you speak of!) Once we get back, we’re going to walk along the Port of Dubuque and then chill out the rest of the evening.
I hope you’re having a great weekend. Here are a few pictures of our relaxation adventure thus far.
