Hateful African Nations, Another Reason to Love America

UPDATE:  November 13, 2012

This is speaker Rebecca Kadaga, who says Ugandans “are demanding it” (the “Kill The Gays” bill that will likely be law by the end of the year).

She calls the bill, a “Christmas gift” to the people of Uganda.

I seriously don’t think she knows the Christ she’s referencing! Very sad!

ORIGINAL POST:  April 3, 2012.

I’m so blessed that I live in the United States and I’m thankful each day for the men and women that have fought to keep me and my family safe.

While minority groups are verbally and physically attacked on a daily basis from people and groups like Rick Santorum, Michele Bachmann, Pat Robertson, Bob Vander Plaats, the Ku Klux Klan, the National Organization for Marriage and countless others, I know it could be much worse.

The African countries of Liberia and Uganda come to mind and solidifies the reason that I will never visit that continent and why we should disassociate ourselves with them.

A group calling itself, the Movement Against Gays in Liberia (MOGUL), has put out a hit list with the names of suspected LGBT people in the nation and are calling for their murder!

The fliers circulating this past weekend state that gays “should not be given space to get a gulp of air.”

A member of MOGUL told reporters that the message should be taken seriously and adding, “We will get to them one by one. They want to spoil our country.”

And, just last month, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf stated, “We like ourselves just the way we are. We’ve got certain traditional values in our society that we’d like to preserve.”

Liberia is not alone. Uganada’s Rolling Stone newspaper published a list of names of suspected LGBT in the country and called for their hanging.

To the haters in Uganda and Liberia and to the Liberian president, both of your countries are among the poorest in the world, disease is rampant, and life expectancies are only 49-58 years. Please work to better your nations instead of threatening to kill gays and lesbians.
