People Need a Tougher Skin & Stop Whining So Much

“Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger”.  That is the most offensive thing I have ever heard!!!  Seriously, are people so uptight that they can’t take a joke?

In preparation for the 110-date “Born This Way Ball” Tour (54 dates have been announced in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe, with the remaining dates in North and South America coming later this year), Lady Gaga tweeted Tuesday, “Just killed back to back spin classes. Eating a salad dreaming of a cheeseburger #PopSingersDontEat #IWasBornThisWay.”

Instantly, people took offense to the tweet.

The National Eating Disorder Association weighed in by tweeting, “Huh? This is the same person who recently implored girls to stop dieting?”  (Gaga admitted that she was bulimic when she was a teenager.  In February, she told a group of California high school students, “The dieting wars have got to stop.  Everyone just knock it off.  Because at the end of the day, it’s affecting kids your age — and it’s making girls sick.”)

Some say that the comment doesn’t jive with the “he made you perfect”, “don’t hide yourself”, and “I was born this way” messages from her signature song, “Born This Way”.

One fan tweeted,”Disgusting that you’d joke about such a serious illness.”

As a former bulimic that’s pretty much has been on the wagon since 1995, I can honestly say it’s a struggle every day.  Yes, I have to watch what I eat and I exercise and I’m not even going on tour and performing for two hours each night with rigorous dance routines.

There are countless times that I’m eating a salad, vegetables, or fruit that I wished it was pizza, a cheeseburger, or German chocolate cake.  That doesn’t make me a hypocrite and it doesn’t make Gaga one.

Yes, she says be who you are and accept who you are, but that doesn’t give you the right to be a glutton and not make healthy choices of what you eat and not exercising.  Most of us are not born that way.  That’s something we choose.

Lighten up.  Oops, that might even be offensive!

Couldn’t have said it better, Anthony. The real hypocrites are obese doctors telling their patients that they need to lose weight….Right here in the QCA we have some of the heaviest people as physicians. They better listen to “Physician heal thy self” and then become a good mentor for those who struggle with their weight.

  2. I agree with you, “Doe”. I’ve had a severe addiction to soda which lead to my obesity. One doctor told me just to quit cold turkey. I could smell cigarettes on him. So I said for him to go to a smoker and tell them to quit cold turkey. He said, never mind.
