More Snow…. Really?

It may officially be spring, but Old Man Winter isn’t done with us yet.

It’s going to be an interesting day across the Mississippi and Illinois Valleys.

After starting out with quick moving thunderstorms with pea-sized hail around midnight in the Quad Cities, we’ll see more rain through noon.

Colder air comes in and as temperatures fall through the 30s this afternoon, the rain will briefly change to sleet and then snow.

Although temperatures are above freezing and the ground is warm, the snow will come down heavy enough for a few hours this afternoon to overcome the warmth and accumulate on elevated and grassy surfaces.

Afternoon Snow

Roadways should be in decent shape with the snow until tonight when temperatures drop below freezing and then we could see some slick spots.

We are rather lucky.  This same storm brought about 5-8″ of snow to parts of northern and northwestern Iowa.

The snow melts away tomorrow with sunshine and a high around 50.

More rain is on the way for the weekend.
